Drayton Hall’s presentation: “Connections: From Africa to America”
Connections: From Africa to America is presented daily at 11:15 AM, 1:115 PM and 3:15 PM in front of the Museum Shop.
Connections is a 45 minute interactive program about African American life. It traces the story of Africans from Africa to the new world, through slavery, and emancipation, and into the 20th century. The program focuses on the connections and contributions of African Americans to American culture. Your museum guide will present historical documents, photographs, audio recordings and artifacts from Africa, Drayton Hall, and other sources in order to bring to life and the dramatic story of African Americans.
Come and see this presentation for a unique glimpse into the lives of slaves and freedmen, and discover how African and European lifeways blended to create the rich Lowcounrty culture that exits today.
Drayton Hall is located 9 miles northwest of downtown Historic Charleston on Highway 61. Drayton Hall is open daily except for major holidays. For additional information call 843-737-0654, or visit http://www.draytonhall.org
